Tłı̨chǫ Engineering & Environmental Services (TEES) is 100% owned by the Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation (TIC). We are currently seeking candidates for this exciting full-time permanent career opportunity as Safety/Quality Assurance Lead on the Tłı̨chǫ Highway (Tłı̨chǫ All Season Road)
Reporting to the Superintendent, the Safety/Quality Assurance Lead will implement and enforce all applicable safety protocols, legislation, regulations and procedures related to the Tłı̨chǫ Highway maintenance operations and will conduct quality assurance checks to ensure that all maintenance operations and projects are conducted in compliance with established regulations, legislation and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Road condition reviews and reporting
- Conducting safety inspections and reports
- Conducting job hazard analysis'
- Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and legislation; reporting on such compliance
- Conducting road quality checks and reporting results
- Client communication
- Conducting permitting updates
- Overseeing, from a quality assurance and safety perspective, daily maintenance operations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role; preferably in the field of road construction/maintenance
- Knowledge of applicable road maintenance/safety legislation
- Ability to review, apply and enforce safety protocols, procedures, practices, legislation and regulation
- Experience with traffic control/enforcement when maintenance work is underway
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excellent leadership skills
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to handle stressful situations when dealing with safety investigations/emergencies
- Comfort and experience working in extreme weather climates (temperatures at times hitting below -40 C)
- Ability to work in a culturally-sensitive work environment
- Strong computer skills (MS Office suite of applications)
- Class 1 or 3 Driver's license required
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation considered a strong asset
- Ability to speak and/or understand the Tlicho language an asset
