
Rotational Operations Attendant (TRO - Gamètì)
Limited competition for Northwest Territories residents only.
Tłı̨chǫ Retail Operations (TRO) is 100% Indigenous owned by the Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation (TIC) and has 100% ownership of three retail stores and motels; also operating a petroleum, oil, lubricant (POL) division (community fuel delivery/gas station) in each of the Tłı̨chǫ communities of Whatì, Gamètì, and Wekweètì, NT.
We are currently recruiting for the following permanent full time rotational Operations Attendant located in the beautiful community of Gamètì, NT. This position is a two-week in/two-week out rotational position working approximately 8-hour days. Flights are provided between Yellowknife and Gamètì, and accommodation/meals are provided while on-rotation in Gamètì.
Reporting to the Community Operations Manager, the Operations Attendant is responsible for hospitality services in the Gamètì Store and Motel, providing customer service in a retail environment; performing purchase/return transactions and ensuring that inventory/product is available and presented/marketed in a professional manner at the general store.
Duties/Responsibilities
Store
- Greet customers.
- Maintain a clean and orderly check-out area, general clean up of the store such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, emptying trash, cleaning refrigerators and freezers.
- Price merchandise, stock shelves, and rotate stock.
- Pull stock approaching best before date to put on sale.
- Use the Point-of-Sale system to process customer purchases/returns and receive payments by cash, credit or debit.
- Count and record daily cash outs.
- Assist customers with bagging their groceries.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Pick up/transport freight from airport when required.
- Act as Supervisor in the absence of the Community Operations Manager.
- Other duties as required.
Motel
- Greet customers.
- General administrative duties including taking motel reservations, invoicing and processing payments.
- Conduct housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, organizing, and cleaning bathrooms, hallways, motel rooms, and office/common areas.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Prepare or assist in preparing meals for guests when required (in the absence of the Cook).
- Knowledge of cooking procedures and methods/completion of a Food Safety course.
- Monitor and order food and supplies.
- Ensure food and other items are stored properly.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
- Other duties as required.
Skills/Abilities:
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Good computer skills using Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in the workplace.
- Previous housekeeping, cooking, store clerk/cashier experience.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to follow direction and take initiative.
- Be proactive to manage time and keep busy.
- Must be reliable/dependable.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team as well as independently with limited supervision.
- Commitment to honesty.
- Flexible/adaptable; willingness to embrace change.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 20kg.
- Food Safety Certification and WHMIS, or willingness to work towards certification.
- Ability to speak and understand the Tlicho language is a strong asset.
- Class 5 driver’s license required; Class 3/airbrakes considered a strong asset.
