Tłı̨chǫ Engineering & Environmental Services (TEES) is 100% owned by Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation (TIC). We are currently looking to fill a permanent full-time position for the Tłı̨chǫ Highway project.
Road Maintenance Field Technician
Reporting to the TEES Superintendent, the Road Maintenance Field Technician will be responsible for day-to-day road maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Equipment operation (grader, snow plow truck) performing road maintenance and repair.
- General labour work (manual labour, shovelling, garbage pick up, general maintenance work around the worksite, etc.).
- Wildlife recovery.
- Assistance with traffic control when required.
- Daily road condition inspections and reports.
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum of 5 years experience operating graders, snow plow trucks, Sno-Cat; preferably in the field of road construction/maintenance.
- Class 1 driver's license required.
- Class 3 with airbrakes driver's licence will be considered.
- Willingness and ability to perform regular general labour work when requested/required.
- Demonstrated reliability and dependability (showing up to work every day; working full shifts).
- Demonstrated commitment to safety/safety improvement.
- General knowledge of equipment maintenance.
- Knowledge of applicable road maintenance/management legislation.
- Ability to apply and enforce safety protocols, procedures and practices.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to take direction.
- Demonstrated flexibility.
- Comfort and experience working in extreme weather climates (temperatures at times hitting below -40 C).
- Ability to work in a culturally-sensitive work environment.
- Ability to speak and understand the Tłı̨chǫ language considered an asset.
