Oil Heat Systems Technician (TCB – Behchǫkǫ̀, NT)

Tłı̨chǫ Community Builders (TCB), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation (TIC), is seeking a skilled and motivated Oil Heat Systems Technician to join our team in Behchǫkǫ̀, NT. This is a full-time term position offering an opportunity to work in a dynamic and community-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, and service on oil heating systems
  • Install, assemble, and troubleshoot oil burner system components using appropriate tools
  • Conduct final inspections to ensure systems are operating safely and efficiently
  • Complete daily service reports and required documentation
  • Identify system deficiencies and recommend or complete repairs
  • Support apprentices and skilled labour through training and supervision
  • Assist with inventory management and preparation of material lists
  • Provide support to other trades in emergency situations as required
  • Travel to other communities and worksites as needed for operational requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certified/Licensed Oil Burner Heating Technician (Oil Burner Mechanic)
  • Experience with plumbing systems is considered an asset
  • Experience working with propane systems is an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience is preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
  • Willingness to work overtime and participate in an on-call rotation
  • Comfortable using computers and handheld devices for reporting and communication
  • Ability to speak and/or understand the Tłı̨chǫ language is considered an asset

 

This role requires an individual who can work effectively in a cross-cultural and diverse environment, demonstrating cultural awareness and respect. Flexibility and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks are essential.

Preference will be given to qualified applicants who are residents of the Northwest Territories.

This is a full-time term position, typically working Monday to Friday, with occasional evening or weekend work as required. Tłı̨chǫ Community Builders offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
