Tłı̨chǫ Government and TIC Partner to Strengthen Trades and Apprenticeship Opportunities
Tłı̨chǫ Region, NT - The Tłı̨chǫ Government and the Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation (TIC) are pleased to announce a new partnership that will expand apprenticeship opportunities through the Tłı̨chǫ Apprenticeship Pathways supporting Tłı̨chǫ Citizens.
Through a three-year service agreement, the Tłı̨chǫ Government and TIC will work together to implement three key components of the Tłı̨chǫ Apprenticeship Pathway. The partnership is designed to help more Tłı̨chǫ Citizens prepare for careers in the skilled trades, apprenticeships, and project management, while supporting current and future construction and infrastructure projects across the Tłı̨chǫ region. The partnership includes the establishment of a full-time Apprenticeship Coordinator, annual Construction Trades Exploration programming, industry work placements, apprenticeship school supports, support for sponsoring employers, Designated Trainer development, and project management trainee placements.
The Tłı̨chǫ Apprenticeship Pathway provides citizens with a clear roadmap to explore trades careers, enter apprenticeships, gain hands-on experience, and move toward long-term employment. The pathway includes three areas of focus: Trades, Apprenticeship, and Project Management.
The Trades Pathway supports individuals who want to build skills and gain experience before entering the trades workforce or beginning an apprenticeship. The Construction Trades Exploration Program includes applied training and paid work placement opportunities that help participants explore trades such as carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.
The Apprenticeship Pathway supports individuals who are ready to begin or continue an apprenticeship. Supports may include help with registration, entrance requirements, employer connections, technical training planning, exam preparation, progress tracking, and other learning supports.
The Project Management Pathway supports individuals interested in leadership, planning, coordination, and project delivery. This pathway helps build local capacity for future infrastructure, business, and community development projects.

The agreement also strengthens coordination between the Tłı̨chǫ Government, TIC, the Mine Training Society, employers, and training providers. This coordinated approach will help support training intakes, work placements, funding opportunities, reporting, and long-term workforce planning.
