Tłı̨chǫ Community Builders (TCB) is seeking a motivated and hardworking Oil Heat System Technician (Oil Burner Machanic) Apprentice to join our team in Behchokǫ̀, NT. This exciting opportunity will allow you to gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills in residential and commercial oil heating systems.
As an Oil Heat System Technician Apprentice, you’ll work directly under the guidance of a certified Oil Heat System Technician, learning everything from installation and servicing to troubleshooting and maintenance. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to grow your career over a four-year period, leading to an Oil Heat System Technician trade certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of residential and commercial oil heating systems under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Support routine servicing, inspections, and safety checks on oil-fired heating equipment.
- Prepare materials, tools, and equipment needed for system installation and repair.
- Learn to troubleshoot system malfunctions and provide basic repairs under supervision.
- Follow safety standards, codes, and company procedures to ensure high-quality work.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite and assist with equipment management.
- Participate in on-the-job training and pursue learning opportunities to enhance trade skills.
- Work collaboratively within a team, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent).
- Eligible and eager to register as an Apprentice in the Oil Heat System Technician trade.
- Mechanical aptitude or previous experience in construction/trades is an asset.
- Strong interest in learning and developing a career in oil heat/mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents (training will be provided).
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license considered an asset.
