Today … I wanted to highlight the great work that is being done by the Tłı̨chǫ̀ Community Builders, one of the divisions within the Tłı̨chǫ̀ Investment Corporation. This is formerly known as Tłı̨chǫ̀ Construction. This team is responsible for many construction projects in Tłı̨chǫ̀ territory and beyond.

This division of TIC is managed by Paul Gourlay, Director of Construction. Currently, there are many active projects, including the new Tłı̨chǫ̀ Cultural Center in Behchokǫ̀, the rebuilding of the Gamètì Motel, remodeling within the Sportsplex in Behchokǫ̀ to add much-needed office space for several Tłı̨chǫ̀ Government entities. The company also does work for the RCMP, the NWT Housing Corporation, and other outside agencies.

We have tried to keep as many people working on the construction sites as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining adherence to the public health officer requirements.

All the projects are progressing nicely, and there is an expectation of very good progress through the summer months.

The fitness center relocation and the kitchen renovation are just the start of changes within the Sportsplex. The new areas will accommodate offices that are much needed for the Tłı̨chǫ̀ Government.

The Cultural Center is quite complex, with many curves to the outside walls, and much of it is built on solid rock. It will be a beautiful showcase when it is complete.

If you check out the new website, you will see pictures of the construction projects, which are updated weekly. This will give you a continuous update on the progress of projects and see buildings grow before your eyes.
